Martin/Barrett wedding

Two of my besties, Meggy and Jurd, are also getting married shortly and one of our best friends, Derek Shimizu, designed their beautiful invitations. They’re wedding is gonna be off tha heezy fo sheezy and I can’t wait!!

Derek is an amazing graphic designer and I hope these photos do them justice. I just had to share them. Nice going, D!

Kao/Mora wedding

I wanted to post a HUGE congratulations to two of my favorite friends, Goretti and André, for their upcoming marriage. One of the perks of having friends who are graphic designers is that sometimes they create beautiful stuff to send you in the mail. I recently received a gorgeous save the date from the KaoMora couple and of course I was impressed.

I love you both, Goretti and André! And I couldn’t be happier for you.

Lummi Island 2012

Once again I spent a wonderful weekend in Lummi Island with a group of my favorite people and doggies. Alfie and Annabelle got along swimmingly. Phew. I truly enjoyed Jonathan’s homemade chilaquiles and Andreea’s amazing sausage pasta. Mystic Pizza made the sun come out, I just know it.

Thank you Rachel, Andreea and Annabelle for hosting us boys. We always love our times in Lummi and can’t wait until we can come again.

My Birthdee

One thing I secretly love (now not so secretly) about Facebook is that so many people come out of the woodworks to wish you a Happy Birthday: people you met in a bar 4 years ago, your friends’ parents, old co-workers that you never see anymore, second cousins, etc. I love it. Thanks to everyone who sent their warm wishes.

This year’s birthdee proved to be one of the best ever. After an amazing brunch complete with bacon, German pancakes, Jared’s amazing breakfast sandwich secret ingredient (maple syrup), homemade bloody mary mix, a birthday banner station, tons of treasures, mimosa explosions, and a spanking machine, we went to quiet dinner with our roommate Chris.

While at dinner, Taylor arranged for a group of my friends to arrive with streamers, balloons, pots and pans, and kazoos and surprise me with my very own Winnie the Pooh parade. It was one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. Thank you to my wonderful friends, Taylor, and everyone who showed up to brunch for making my birthday so amazing. You each make my life so meaningful and I love you all so much.

I wanted to document what was perhaps the cutest moment of the day. My friends, Royal and Danielle, have the most adorable son, Issac, and this was one of our adorable interactions:

Isaac: “Hey Jason, do you have a mommy?”
Me: “Yes, but she died a little while a go.”
Isaac: “Why?”
Me: “Well, she got kind of sick and wasn’t feeling very good.”
Isaac: “Oh…”
I start to walk away to check on the bacon.
Isaac: “Hey, Jason! What was your mommy’s name?”
Me: “Aww.. It was Sharon.”
Isaac leaves with his parents and they drive home.
Isaac says to Danielle: “I’m sad Jason’s mommy died, because I wanted to see how pretty she is.”

Isn’t that so cute? Gosh, I love that little stinker!

Here’s Isaac modeling his Bea-Day shirt.

Happy Halloween

We at the house of Blood and Friendship would like to thank everyone who came to our Spooky party this last Saturday. We had the time of our lives and even though I “unintentionally went to bed” before some guests even arrived, I’m sure they had fun too. The spook alley was a huge hit (sorry if I scared you!) and Julia, Angela, Brian were huge helpers. I love you guys!

Everyone’s costumes were intensely perfect and I really wish the night would have lasted longer. It seemed like it lasted 20 minutes; it was just too much fun. I also wish I would have taken more pics. :’(

Here are a few of the pics from the night. They’re pretty great. I wish it were Halloween every day!

Jurd and Megan as pirates and Derek as a McNugget! CUTE!

Taylor

We celebrated Taylor’s 27th birthday a few weeks ago with a fun dinner at his workplace, Smith. His co-workers actually came out and sang to him and it was really sweet and hilarious. They were so cute. Afterwards we met friends at Twilight Exit and it got pretty hoppin’ for a Monday night.

I think the biggest hit of the night were our coordinated outfits. Taylor planned it all and it was pretty awesome that the rainbow worked out.

Happy Birthday, Taylor! Here’s your haiku:

salty, summer air
reading stories on blankets
desert animals

I love you!

BESTIE x BESTIE 3.01 and 3.02

These may get a little old for some of you, but I love it. I mostly love the idea of these two friends getting wasted, being ridiculous and making videos about it. If anything it makes me want to do it with a few of my besties. Especially Taylor. What’s not to love?

Jenny’s helium voice kills me, and “Who Cares About Las Vegas?” is the best!

Wonderful Terrible Being

Julia filmed and edited Jacob in this recording of Jacob’s classic Wonderful Terrible Being. How come some people are so awesome? Jacob and Julia make me feel pretty lucky. I love you guys!

Megan & Jurd

Two of my favorite people in the world, Megan and Jared, will be getting married a year from today! Since the traditional 1-year wedding anniversary gift is paper I thought it’d be fun to brainstorm some -1-year gift ideas. But it has to be worse than paper.

1. Wicker Furniture
2. Lane Bryant giftcard
3. Cigarettes
4. Vibram FiveFingers shoes
5. Diarrhea
6. Jäger
7. Fingernails
8. CrossFit subscription
9. PC laptop
10. Sheer underwear

what else?

I love Megan and Jurd as though they were my family. They are two of the most genuine, loving, wonderful people I know. Megan is so wise and wonderful to talk to. She’s one of my closest friends and I hope she always will be. Jurd is a lucky feller, and he is her match in every way I can imagine. I love him like a brother and I couldn’t be happier for Megan that she’s found such a hunka quality man.

I love you guys!

How cute are they?

Anna

sunburned and sleepy
you smash a huge black widow
and fart up my butt

Happy Birthday, Anna!! Aren’t you closer to my age? I’m 33.

I still love this ancient photo of Anna with Christy and me, cerca 2004.

Adieu Jacob

My bestie, Jacob, recently left Seattle for equally green pastures in Great Barrington, MA. Obviously, I’m sad and I miss him so much, but I’m also very happy for him and his new life, his new car, his new swimming pool. Must be hard.

Jacob recently got an amazing gig as an adjunct professor of art at Bard College at Simon’s Rock. See more of Jacob’s work and listen to his sweet tracks here. I love Jacob’s work and I know he’s going to do well there; I’m just sad that he’s on the other side of the continent.

I love you, Jacob! Can’t wait to see you again sometime soon!
