Small Christy

Here is Christy on her first day of school. Amazing.

12.5 cups

For Christmas last year, Monica got a 100 oz. mug as a sort of gag gift from her brother. I seriously want one so bad. Then I want to go to a Shell Station, fill it up with Diet Coke, rent an electric wheelchair, wheel around Wal-Mart all day, buy that Super-Size Me documentary and a pretty fairy figurine, and go home.

This mug is 100 oz, which is equal to 12.5 cups, ≈.8 gallons, and would carry about 6.5 pounds of water. Yumm!!! This truly is industrial design at its finest.

Cheers!

The Kura Door

I have to say that one of the highlights of my trip to Utah was the morning I went to The Kura Door, a Japanese day spa located in the heart of Salt Lake City.

The past week was so stressful that sitting in a Japanese bath and then getting an intense massage from a stoic woman named Diane was just magical. She said to me, “The more calm you are, the more calm your mom will be when you see her” and those were the words to live by while I was in and out of the hospital.

So if any of you ever find yourselves in Salt Lake City with nothing to do, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to The Kura Door and get Diane Hayden (801-364-2400) to touch your body with her glittery, golden hands of life. She’ll turn you into a very happy monkey.

New House

I just moved recently and our new place is a lot of fun—communal living at its best. We’re having a sort of housewarming party on August 14th and it should be a good time. Close friends and sorta friends are invited. And even if you can’t make it, come and visit some other time!

I’ll make bread!

The Fear

I really love this video of Lily Allen’s The Fear. SO FUN.

Kids Are Getting Younger

Let me just start of by saying that I normally don’t love “Fan-made” videos. Perhaps it is because the majority of them are made by fans of Twilight and Rascal Flatts. However, this video is for Benoit Pioulard’s “Kids Are Getting Younger” is one that I could watch over and over again, likely due to the fact that it features Bernadette Peters in Pennies From Heaven. There is something enchanting and haunting about all of these proper little kids dancing around to this song. I totally love it.

Jell-O

This comes to me via my BFF, Mi Piace Kate.

I seriously love it. The caviar Jell-O rules! Thanks Kate!

Amazing COLORS

I am probably one of COLORS magazine’s biggest fans. Last night a few of us got online to try this out and it really is incredible. Basically you hold up certain spreads of the magazine to your webcam and then it will show you a video of what the spread is about.

I’ve always been blown away with how COLORS is able to connect people all over the world to each other while highlighting stories of what makes us different and what makes us the same. I’m now blown away with their ability to combine print and web mediums to create a truly unique interactive experience. I’m kind of freaking out about it.

The First Days of Spring

This is from one of my favorite albums/artists of 2009, Noah and the Whale. Written and directed by their chief singer/songwriter, Charlie Fink. I know it’s so last year but it is worth sharing over and over again. I love it.

Warning: It is long, but amazing.

GOOD 019: The Neighborhoods Issue

I really love the new issue of GOOD, where they asked designers, artists, and illustrators to design flags celebrating their neighborhood. I think the sausage one in the top left corner is my favorite. It was made by Playlab for Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. I also love the one shown in the lower right corner by Kevin Will Chen for Nederland, Texas. Kind of fun. There are lots more to see if you go here.

ISAORA

Japanese artist Shinichi Maruyama created this chic video for ISAORA clothing and I thought it was super sexy. Check it out!

James Randi

I’ve seen James Randi before and am fascinated by him and his lifelong crusade to debunk fraudulent psychics, especially those pieces of shit, Sylvia Browne and John Edward (aka The Biggest Douche in the Universe).

And NOW he has a TED talk!

The Sandpit

I thought this was especially sexy. It reminds me of how small each moment is when compared to the hugeness of the universe.

The Secret Project project

My beautiful and talented friend, Kate, has a project for you! Click on the image below to find out what it is. And then go and do it!

Easter fambly outing

Easter was very memorable this year. I went to Cape Meares, Oregon with some amazing friends and we had so much fun.

Though, I should have killed Kristen last.

Joys of Jell-O

My sister-in-law, Monica, bought me this book a few years ago in Utah. It fascinates me to this day. I can’t imagine eating such Jell-O recipes as “Sea Dream”, “Ring Around the Tuna”, “Apple Tuna Mold”, or “Chicken Mousse”, “Ham Mousse”, and “Salmon Mousse”. Meat mousse is not my thing, let alone when it’s mixed with lemon-lime Jell-O.

Let me know if you need any recipes.

Cadbury Popping Mini Eggs

My friend, Cassie, recently returned from a short trip to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She returned with what are the most sinfully delicious Easter candies that I’ve ever tasted. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Cadbury Mini Eggs, but Cassie gave me some Cadbury Popping Mini Eggs. They’re basically the same mini eggs I’m used to, but they have pop-rocks mixed into the chocolate. I just started salivating as I typed that. If eating candy were a sin, these candies would get you into hell for sure.

TRY ONE.

FOXY: Christina Hendricks

I can’t stand it. Christina Hendricks is Guh-Guh-GORGEOUS!

1000 Extra/Ordinary Things

I triple heart this book.

Leia Bell

I recently ordered some fun fun prints from an artist in SLC named Leia Bell.

She is mostly known for her concert posters and has many of them featured in this book. I tend to like her portraits of animals and the people I love, like Dolly Parton, Obama and Pee-Wee Herman.

Betty White

Just because.

The Stranger

I’m in The Stranger this week. Click here.

Allura Bush

So I finally made up a drag name for myself. I thought it was kind of a fun project. I’ve never done drag or anything but if I did my name would be Allura Bush. I thought it was kinda clever.

I also went to RuPaul’s dragulator.com and got a pretty happenin’ look for myself. It’s a pretty hilarious activity if you ask me.

Chloë Sevigny

I have to get off my chest how much I love Chloë Sevigny. She was in the papers a lot today, fresh off her well-deserved Golden Globe win for Big Love. She shined in this last season of the show and has been my main conversation topic for the past 2 weeks. She’s edgy, sexy, and is now at the top of my list of people I’d die to meet; right behind Dolly Parton and Amy Sedaris.

I love you, Chloë.

Hipster Chronology

I thought this image in Paste was pretty great. It makes me wonder what 10 more years will do.
